Cannon Beach Film Festival - Premier Event
Celebrating Films with Scenes shot locally.

Rescheduled to June 21 & 22, 2008 Coaster Theatre 503-436-1242.

:::::: Cannons Reappear After 161 Years ::::::
Monday, February 18, 2008
In September 1846 the U.S. Navy schooner Shark, built on the east coast in 1821, broke into pieces at the mouth of the Columbia River. A large section with three cannons eventually floated ashore in Arch Cape just south of Cannon Beach. One of those cannons was recovered years later and now resides at the Cannon Beach History Center. Today, after 161 years, two cannons, which must be the other two, came into view as the winter storms washed record amounts of sand away revealing them.

:::::: December Storm and Town Photos ::::::
Photos of Downtown lit up for the season, The annual Lamplighting and the Childrens Christmas program at the Presbyterian Church.

The big December 2nd storm made history. Power and Internet were out for more than 5 days. I have prepared groups of photos that can be viewed by clicking the links that follow. Once open, each group can be viewed as a slide show by clicking on the middle arrow below the large image. Or you can click the right or left arrows to go through at your own pace allowing time to read the captions below the images. Storm Photos Part 1 (which includes the downtown flooding), Storm Photos Part 2 (surging surf, downed trees and in Seaside the mangled billboard), Storm Photos Part 3 (Klootchy Creek County Park and the remains of the Giant Spruce), Storm Photos Part 4 (Tree thru roof of Shepherd home), and Storm Photos Part 5 (Snapped off and uprooted trees along Hwy 26 five miles from Hwy 101) ..
